Staff Spotlight: Allison Musser

The College of Applied Health Sciences has an array of faculty that are renowned in their areas of research and instruction. But AHS would not be able to operate as efficiently without its staff, who are the backbone of this great college. Periodically, we will shine the light on one of these staffers so their colleagues can get to know them better. This time, it's Allison Musser, the assistant director of the Master of Public Health program.

Q: What drew you to the University of Illinois?

A: I came Illinois for my undergraduate degree. After several stops in other places, I knew I wanted to come back home. I love living in a college town, with all the opportunities that the university provides.

Q: How long have you been in AHS?

A: I have been working in AHS since October, but I’m very familiar with the college as I am a three-time Alum (BS, MS in Kines; PhD in RST).

Q: What’s your favorite part of your job?

A: It is a pleasure for me to work with students who are so passionate about creating change and improving health for our society!

Q: What’s your favorite spot on campus?

A: My favorite spot on campus is the Quad. It’s especially great on the first warm day of Spring after the winter, a day that I hope is coming soon!

Q: The best part of being an Illini is …

A: Being part of one of the best schools in the world! We are strong in so many different areas, and I’m proud to be part of it.

Q: What’s your favorite movie?

A: "Coming to America."

Q: What's your favorite TV show?

A: "The Office." Stop by me office to see my Dundie!

Q: What's your go-to snack?

A: Homemade popcorn.

Q: What's the last book you read?

A: Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman.
