After cancelling the event in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Keller Williams, The Real Estate Center of Illinois, LLC, once again held its Cash Bash, a charitable event that raises funds to support community organizations. Since 2014, founding operating principal Scott Bechtel has earmarked the proceeds of the event for the Chez Veterans Center, and more than $800,000 has been raised.

Dr. Cheryl Hanley-Maxwell, dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences, observed that it had been a long two years since the last in-person event in 2019.

“It’s wonderful to be able to resume the Cash Bash this year,” she said. “We hold our partnership with Scott Bechtel and the Scott Bechtel Group very dear. Your ongoing support of the Chez Veterans Center through this event has enabled us to provide scholarships to our student-veterans, purchase materials and equipment, host special activities related to veterans’ interests and needs, and meet the costs of infrastructure and day-to-day operations.”

This year’s event, held on November 19, included a dinner and silent and live auctions. Actor David Eigenberg, who was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal in 1986, gave a virtual welcome to the event. The keynote speaker at this year’s Cash Bash was Major Christoper “IKE” Bourbeau of the US Marine Corps.
