Undergraduate Certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching

The Department of Health and Kinesiology announces the Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate Program. Health and Wellness Coaching has emerged as a new discipline to address the growing prevalence of chronic conditions and supplement traditional health care. This certificate will serve as an introduction to the field of health and wellness coaching and will provide students with valuable experience within the field, setting them up to pursue a national certification if desired.

Eligible students: any undergraduate student in the School of Applied Health Sciences can apply for the Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate Program. Acceptance is dependent on a professional interview and successful completion of the required courses and internship.

Required Courses (12 Credit Hours): 

HK 154       

Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Health (3 credit hours)

HK 341       

Health Behaviors and Obesity (3 credit hours)

HK 440      

Exercise & Health Psychology (3 credit hours)

HK 495      

Clinical Experience in Exercise & Sport *this internship must be completed with Campus     Recreation (3 credit hours)

Students are not guaranteed a seat in a course required by the certificate, but are welcome to enroll in courses where seats remain available after any restrictions have been removed. No course substitutions will be allowed.
