Applied Practice Experience
Master of Public Health students participate in the Applied Practice Experience (APE) after completion of the core courses. The APE involves at least 200 hours of working in a public health setting and offers intensive “real world" experience. Students gain important job skills and learn more about career options in public health.
MPH students generally complete the APE during the summer between their first and second year of coursework or in the fall of their second year. The APE helps students fully discover their career interests while increasing their professional skills, build a stronger resume, and increase their professional network.
