David Remmert, PhD., MPH

Dr. Remmert received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. With over 20 years of experience in local public health practice, Dr. Remmert now serves full-time as the Administrator of the DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department, one of only six health departments in the state serving a multi-county jurisdiction. Dr. Remmert’s research interests include local public health practice and quality assurance. He serves as a Visiting Lecturer with the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois, and has acted as a consultant on several research projects, including most recently a Robert Wood Johnson funded project investigating the role of public health governance on health status. Dr. Remmert has served in several leadership roles of state and local boards focused on public health missions including serving as Chair of the Health Education/Health Promotion section of the Illinois Public Health Association, Chair of the IFLOSS Coalition focused on oral health issues of the underserved, and most recently was elected by his peers as President-Elect of the Illinois Public Health Association.
